San Lorenzo quartiere in movimento

Ritratti scattati nelle chiese storiche del quartiere di San Lorenzo a Firenze.

After examining the historic church of San Lorenzo district in Florence, I made some portraits of the faithful to highlight the transformation of religion in the district of San Lorenzo. Now some catholic Churc is run by immigrant communities. The result of these changes is a new reality with a process of secularisation, an increase of.....and the need to protect the cultural Heritage. Therefore the profile of the city keeps moving.

Queste immagini fanno parte di un progetto molto ampio, legato al fenomeno della prostituzione nigeriana nelle zone toscane di Prato, Firenze ed Arezzo.

These pictures are part of a larger project which presents a photographic survey about the environment of Nigerian prostitution in the cities of Prato, Firenze, Arezzo (Tuscany, Italy). I intend to show the reality of these women, highlighting the most intimate sides of it, through the photographic medium. I’ve been choosing to represent the prostitutes as women rather than as trade goods, therefore I portrait them in their daily life such as the train commute to reach the places where they will be carrying out their activity. In the night train, the Nigerian girls put on very strong make up to attract the attention of their costumers. I started my project trying to build a confidential relationship with some of these women, then I could portrait them in the train, on the streets and lately in their own houses.
